I too!

A Poem

I too have stood at the edge of the cliff
I too have had the lake below my feet
I too have been high on dreams larger than life
With an ego bigger than the self –
I too have had energies tossed to and fro of the wind
Showered and eroded as soil by the streams
I too have been aware of the world around me
The world ahead
I too have had to unwittingly remain in a world long past
Unconsciously carrying dead things in my heart,
Posthumously breathing life into relationships whose
Skeletons had long since left the closet
I too have melted, shivered — have loved
I too have had to cry, fail — lie
I too have eschewed my plans
And wished for a new body
I too have given up, cornered the self in a circle
And disqualified my faculties
I too have had to regale the morrow, satiate the noon
And bribe the night for an hour of sleep
I too have sought the simplest way out
And Google knows all about it
I too have had to change friends
And choose family with utter circumspect
I too have moved around in search of a clean slate
And visit till late for a full plate
I too have had to converse with the self;
Grope my darkness or be my own light
I too have had to make decisions –
I too have chosen to dream anew.
